Good morning, Leaguelettes. It is I–
Let me be the first to wish you a happy Thursday, as we collectively truck along our weekly work load, e’er reaching for the sweet release of the weekend.
Don’t worry friends. It’s coming.
Until then however, allow me to regail you with what I hope serves as a lightener of your hearts and souls.
These should do, no?
Yes my loyal Leaguelettes– I come before you today not with a particular title, or peripheral to plug; no pun intended.
Instead, I thought I’d just make today about you. Yes, you. Don’t look around, or do– because regardless of who you think this is for, you’re correct.
Okay, maybe not for him…
Gaming as a whole, serves many purposes. Would you not agree? For some, it’s a great escape from the mundane or unbearable. For others; a joyous passtime meant to bring friends closer– by evicerating enemies.
For others still, it calms the nerves. Allows one to unwind or live out an otherwise unattainable fantasy. But what about you? What drives the Leaguelette? For what reason do you game?
In fact– I’ll do you one better.
What do you look for in a title? Forget genre for a moment– or even specific gameplay elements. At your core, you are constantly searching for something in your digital entertainment. Something that speaks solely to you– even if it appeals to millions of others.
What is that crucial element?
Cannot locate on chart…
Many a time, I have personally fallen prey to hype– pure excitement over the potential a game would have, only to be let down.
But is that truly the fault of the developer? Well– okay in plenty of cases it is– but my point is that to a degree… is it my endless search for something that does not exist, that drives to me to fall into such traps to begin with?
I couldn’t, if asked– describe exactly what it is I want in the ‘perfect game’. Perhaps, though– you could. What is your perfect game? What makes it that so?
Am I starting to sound like your 8th grade word problems yet? Excellent. This has all been a ruse to make you relive the horrors of middleschool.
In all seriousness, I am truly interested in learning more about you guys. What your tastes are, and why. For me, gaming is an art form meant to be enjoyed by everyone. Even if sometimes– that’s done alone.
So– share with us.
Consilio et Animus, my friends.
