Death Awaits Us All!

Updated: Feb 7, 2020

Good morning loyal Painkillers, anime fans, and newbies from the site. Welcome to another edit of Saturday Morning Cinema. Today I have a good one for you, but first a question that I have somewhat asked before. Can an animated movie based on an American comic book character, be considered an anime as we know it? Well, since this was on the Anime Network back in the day, I would have to say yes! Here is Lady Death, The Movie.

The movie opens in 15th century Sweden, and follows a young woman name Hope. She has been accused of witchcraft/devil work. As she is burning at the stake, she summon demos that save her, and brings her to Hell. Here she meets her father, Lucifer, who want her, to join him, and rules by his side. Hope refuses, and is throw to her “death”. Hope survives, and then spends her days training to become Lady Death.

This movie is really good. Some people knocked the movie at its release back in 2004, because it didn’t follow the original source material 100%. Other than that, it is a really good movie, and is a good way to introduce Lady Death to newcomers. This should be easy to find and watch since this is on Amazon Prime Video, and is free for Prime users. So remember to watch this, while you are ordering your Halloween costume! That’s all for now, until next time everyone!
