Fat Boys And Heavy Machine Guns
Updated: Feb 7, 2020
Good morning my loyal Painkillers, and welcome back to the best part of Monday, Grab A Buddy Monday. I know that it has been a while, and I hope that you all did miss these articles, because I did miss writing them for you. So today, let’s get into a good one. So for today, I figured that we would talk about a really good side scrolling shoot em up. And before anyone says, “But this is the second one!” yes, I know that. But here is the thing, I played the first game in the arcade first, and didn’t play it on a console until I already played this game on console. Also, since I really wanted to do one of these games, I figured that it would make sense to talk about the one I played on console first, and not another arcade game. Fear not, I do have another arcade game coming soon. Anyways, it’s time to grab your buddy, hook up your PlayStation one, and let’s play some Metal Slug X
Quick bit of information, this game is the remade version of Metal Slug 2 that came out for the Neo Geo. Not a lot was changed, but you can see and feel the differences between the two. So if you can find a copy of one, you could always find the other and still enjoy this. So, after defeating General Morden in the first game, he is back once again to try to overthrow the world’s governments. This time, he has aligned himself with aliens, to make sure that he is victorious this time around. The heroes from the first game, Marco Rossi, and Tarma Roving are also back to stop Morden. They are joined by Eri Kasamoto and Fiolina Germi to help bring down Morden once and for all.
In this game, you choose between one of the four playable characters, and shoot your way through six missions, each one having a boss battle at the end. No matter which character you pick to play the game as, everyone starts off with a standard postiol and 10 standard bombs. Along the way, either by killing random enemies, blowing up random buildings, vehicles, and rescuing POWs will get you different weapons such as shotguns, heavy machine guns, and laser gun. Also, you can get your hands on your own vehicles such as tanks, planes, and even a camel with a Vulcan cannon strapped to it.
This is a very fun game. Since it is an arcade game originally, it has the issue where the screen will fill up quickly with enemies to kill you off, and steal your money. You can change the numbers of lives you start off with, and with the contiunes that you get, you should be able to get through the game with some practice and skill. As soon as you can get your hands on this game, the faster you and your buddy will be having fun. Until next time Painkillers!
