Not Even Death Can Stop Revenge

Updated: Feb 7, 2020

Lock n’ Load…

Good evening Painkillers, and welcome to another addition of Anime Wednesday. Today, we are going to talk about an anime with a lot of action, violence, and gun play. Hell there are so many guns, that the word is in the title of the series. So then, let’s get right into it! Here is Gungrave.

The show follows two best friends Brandon Heat and Harry McDowell. They start off in a small gang with three other friends, but once the three are killed, Brandon and Harry join a crime syndicate group known as Millennion, and there leader known as Big Daddy. They quickly make their way up through the ranks, until a falling out between the two leading to Harry killing Brandon.

The show opens up 13 years later after the killing of Brandon. Brandon has been reborned as a creature known as Beyond The Grave, and is now set on having revenge. He now goes after the Millennion syndicate, and Harry, who is currently the leader of the syndicate, and now goes by the name Bloody Harry.

This show has everything, and it all fits together perfectly. The storytelling, the animation, the action, it all works. Since the show starts off with Brandon already dead, it does a lot of flashback of Brandon and Harry when they were still friends, so if you are not fully paying attention, you may get confused about what is going on. Other than that, it’s a damn good show. You can find this show on Hulu, so go check it out when you get the chance. Until next time Painkillers.
